Gabriel Powell – About Me and Why I Created TrustCasino.ca
My name is Gabriel Powell, and I’m the founder of TrustCasino.ca.
Casinos have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My interest in gambling didn’t begin with an online casino advertisement or a welcome bonus. It began much earlier, watching my father.
My father was a professional casino player, and growing up, I had a front-row seat to the way an experienced player approached gambling. I listened to him talk about casino games, probabilities, risk, bankroll management, and, perhaps most importantly, knowing when to walk away.
As a kid, I didn’t understand every calculation or strategy, but I understood one thing very quickly: experienced players don’t look at casinos the same way casual visitors do.
They look beyond the flashing lights and big promises.
That stayed with me.
Over the years, I developed my own interest in casino gaming, and today I have more than 20 years of experience as a casino player.
During that time, I’ve watched the industry change dramatically. Online casinos have become faster, more sophisticated, and much easier to access. Canadian players can now choose from hundreds of sites offering thousands of slots, live dealer tables, welcome bonuses, loyalty programs, and dozens of payment methods.
Having more choice sounds like a good thing.
But it also creates a new problem: how do you know which casino you can actually trust?
That question is one of the main reasons I created TrustCasino.ca.
I Test Casinos as a Real Player
I never wanted TrustCasino.ca to become another casino website that simply rewrites promotional information supplied by operators.
A casino can make almost anything sound impressive on its homepage.
What matters to me is what happens after you actually create an account and put your own money on the line.
That’s why I personally test the casinos I review.
When evaluating an online casino, I normally:
- create a real player account;
- go through the registration process;
- check the information and verification requirements;
- deposit between $250 and $1,000 CAD;
- play different casino games and slots;
- test the website on desktop and mobile;
- look at the bonus conditions and wagering requirements;
- contact customer support when appropriate;
- request a withdrawal;
- and wait to see how the casino actually handles my money.
The withdrawal is particularly important to me.
Depositing at an online casino is usually easy. The real test begins when you ask for your winnings back.
I want to know whether the withdrawal process is straightforward, whether additional documents are suddenly requested, how long approval takes, whether the stated conditions match the actual experience, and whether the money reaches the player as expected.
Those details can tell you far more about a casino than a colourful homepage ever will.
More Than 20 Years of Playing Experience
After more than two decades of playing casino games, I have a fairly clear idea of what matters to players.
A massive bonus isn't particularly valuable if the wagering conditions make it almost impossible to use.
Thousands of slots don't mean much if the site is slow or difficult to navigate.
Fast deposits are irrelevant if withdrawals become unnecessarily complicated.
And good customer support isn't about having a live-chat icon on the screen. It is about receiving a useful answer when you actually have a problem.
My experience helps me look at casinos from the perspective of someone who has spent years on the other side of the screen — as a player.
That is the perspective I try to bring to every review on TrustCasino.ca.
Why I Created TrustCasino.ca
The idea behind TrustCasino.ca is simple:
show Canadian players what an online casino is really like before they deposit their own money.
I want our reviews to answer practical questions.
- Is registration easy?
- Are the bonus terms reasonable?
- What games are available?
- Does the casino work well on mobile?
- Which payment methods are useful for Canadian players?
- How complicated is identity verification?
- How quickly are withdrawals processed?
- What happens when something goes wrong?
These are the things I want to know before trusting a casino with my own money, so these are the things I believe our readers deserve to know as well.
Casinos Without the Gloss
Casino marketing is designed to show you the best possible version of a product.
That isn't what TrustCasino.ca is for.
If I encounter a frustrating verification process, confusing bonus terms, slow support, withdrawal problems, or something else I believe Canadian players should know about, I want that reflected in the review.
Likewise, when a casino delivers a genuinely good experience, I think it deserves recognition.
The goal isn't to make every casino look good or bad.
The goal is to make our reviews useful.
I believe trust is earned through transparency, which is particularly important in an industry where players are depositing real money.
Canadian Players Come First
TrustCasino.ca is built specifically for people playing from Canada.
That means I pay particular attention to things that matter to Canadian players, including CAD-friendly banking options, payment processing, withdrawal experience, game selection, mobile usability, bonuses, customer support, and overall convenience.
A casino may be popular internationally and still provide a poor experience for someone playing from Canada.
That distinction matters.
Rather than simply asking whether a casino is good, I prefer to ask:
Is this casino a good choice for a Canadian player?
Sometimes the answer is yes.
Sometimes it isn't.
My job is to explain why.
Your Experience Matters Too
My own testing is only one part of TrustCasino.ca.
Every player can have a different experience with the same casino, which is why TrustCasino.ca allows users to leave their own reviews and share what happened to them.
I believe this makes the site more useful.
If dozens of players consistently praise fast withdrawals, that information matters.
If players repeatedly report the same problem, that matters too.
My goal is for TrustCasino.ca to become a place where my hands-on testing and the experiences of Canadian players come together to create a clearer picture of each casino.
Bonuses Should Be Understood, Not Just Advertised
Bonuses are one of the biggest marketing tools in online gambling, and they're also one of the easiest things to misunderstand.
A "$1,000 bonus" doesn't automatically mean you are receiving $1,000 that can immediately be withdrawn.
Wagering requirements, maximum bets, eligible games, expiry periods, withdrawal restrictions, and other conditions can completely change the real value of an offer.
That's why I try to look beyond the headline number.
When I review a casino bonus, my question is not simply:
How big is it?
It's:
Would I actually consider this a reasonable offer as a player?
That's a much more useful question.
Gambling Should Remain Entertainment
Growing up around an experienced casino player also taught me something that doesn't appear in many casino advertisements: knowing when not to play is just as important as knowing how to play.
There is no strategy that guarantees long-term profits from casino games.
The casino has a mathematical advantage, and gambling should always be treated as entertainment rather than a way to make money.
I believe players should understand the games they play, set limits before they start, avoid chasing losses, and never gamble with money they cannot afford to lose.
A trustworthy casino guide shouldn't only tell you where you can play.
It should help you make a more informed decision about whether, where, and how you want to play.
What Trust Means to Me
I chose the name TrustCasino.ca for a reason.
For me, trust isn't created by giving every casino five stars.
It's created by doing the work.
Registering.
Depositing real money.
Playing.
Reading the conditions.
Testing customer support.
Requesting a withdrawal.
And then telling readers what actually happened.
After more than 20 years around casino gaming, I've learned that the details matter.
My aim with TrustCasino.ca is to use that experience to help Canadian players see beyond the marketing and make their own informed decisions.
I test the casinos. I share what I find. You decide where — or whether — you want to play.
